polycrystalline solar panels are made up from the polycrystalline cells which are made from high purity multi crystalline form of silicon. Due to this the cost of polycrystalline solar panels are high compare to other new generation solar panels like cigs,dye sensitized solar panels. polysilicon cost in last few years have came down by very good margin which becomes a big reason for reduced cost of polycrystalline solar panels.In 1970 polycrystalline solar panels cost per watt was 65-75$ which reduced to 0.8-0.9$ in 2014.


Monocrystalline solar panels are one of oldest types of solar panels and made of thick layer of monocrystalline silicon which is very costly due to this prices of this solar panels are high compare to other.In last few years the thickness of a silicon waver used to produce a solar cell also decreased significantly, requiring less raw material and therefore less energy for its manufacture. Increased efficiency combined with economic usage of resources and materials was the main driver for the monocrystalline solar panels cost reduction over the last decade.


amorphous silicon is the non-crystalline form of silicon and it can be deposited in thin films at low temperature on to variety of substrates for manufacturing amorphous silicon thin film solar panels. Because of using amorphous silicon and manufacturing process is quite easy makes it cheap compare to crystalline solar panels cost but this low price achieved at cost of  less efficiency due to use of amorphous silicon. But their low cost per watt become attractive factor for wide use of thin film solar panels.


 CIGS thin film solar panels are made up  from CIGS cells. copper indium gallium selenide solar cell  is a thin film solar cells used are manufactured by depositing a thin layer of copper, indium,gallium and selenide on glass or plastic backing, along with electrodes on the front and back to collect current. Because the material has a high absorption coefficient and strongly absorbs sunlight, a much thinner film is required than of other semiconductor materials. CIGS thin film solar panels cost to performance ratio is weak which limits it higher use.


Cadmium telluride (CdTe) is a stable crystalline compound formed from cadmium and tellurium which is used for manufacturing CdTe thin film solar panels.In whole lifespan, CdTe PV has the smallest carbon footprint, lowest water use and shortest energy payback time then conventional solar technologies.The usage of rare materials may  become a limiting factor to the industrial scalability of CdTe technology in the mid-term future. The rare abundance of tellurium is comparable to that of platinum in the earth’s crust and contributes significantly to the module’s cost


Dye sensitized solar panels are low-cost solar panels belonging to the group of thin film solar panels.It is based on a semiconductor formed between a photo-sensitized anode and an electrolyte, a photoelectrochemical system.Dye sensitized solar panels have a number of attractive features; they are simple to make using conventional roll-printing techniques, are semi-flexible and semi-transparent which offers a variety of uses not applicable to glass-based systems, and most of the materials used are low-cost. Due to this dye sensitized solar panels are one of the cheapest in solar panel industry. But In practice they have proven difficult to eliminate a number of expensive materials, notably platinum and ruthenium, and the liquid electrolyte presents a serious challenge to making a cell suitable for use in all weather.Commercial applications, which were held up due to chemical stability problems.


Multi-junction (MJ) solar cells are solar cells with multiple p–n junctions made of different semiconductor materials. Each material’s p-n junction will produce electric current in response to different wavelengths of light. By using this solar cells Multijunction solar panels are made.However, this efficiency is gained at the cost of increased complexity and manufacturing price. To date, their higher price and higher price-to-performance ratio have limited their use to special roles, notably in aerospace and satellite application only  where their high power-to-weight ratio is desirable
